The Governing Body is the highest executive leadership team of Sanyukt Organisation, responsible for strategic direction, policy formulation, and overall governance. It ensures that the organisation's mission and vision are upheld through effective leadership and transparent decision-making.

The Governing Body consists of 7-9 members in the following positions:

  • President
  • General Secretary
  • Vice President
  • Joint Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Advisors (up to 4)
  • Each member of the Governing Body serves a term of 2 years.
  • A member may serve a maximum of 2 consecutive terms in the same position.
  • After completing 2 consecutive terms, a member must take a gap of at least 1 term (2 years) before being eligible for re-appointment to the same role.
  • Members may be re-appointed to a different position without a gap period, subject to eligibility and selection process.
  • The Governing Body reserves the right to extend or shorten a term under extraordinary circumstances, with proper documentation and majority approval.

Strategic Planning

  • Define and review the organisation's short-term and long-term goals.
  • Approve annual action plans and programme roadmaps.
  • Set strategic priorities aligned with Sanyukt's mission.

Administration

  • Oversee the functioning of all internal teams and departments.
  • Appoint, supervise, and evaluate team heads and coordinators.
  • Ensure efficient resource management and operational effectiveness.

Financial Oversight

  • Approve annual budgets and financial plans.
  • Monitor income, expenditures, and financial reports.
  • Ensure transparency and accountability in all financial dealings.

Governance

  • Formulate, amend, and enforce internal policies and guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and audits of organisational operations.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
  • Must hold a minimum educational qualification of graduation (Bachelor's degree) from a recognised institution.
  • Should have a minimum of 1 year of experience in social work, community service, non-profit management, or a related field.
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to the values and mission of Sanyukt Organisation.
  • Should possess leadership qualities, integrity, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Must not hold any position that creates a conflict of interest with the organisation's objectives.
  • Prior involvement with Sanyukt (as a volunteer, intern, or team member) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must be willing to commit adequate time and effort for the responsibilities of the position.

The selection of Governing Body members follows a structured 5-stage process:

Stage 1: Application

Interested candidates submit a formal application through the official Sanyukt portal, providing personal details, qualifications, experience, and a statement of purpose.

Stage 2: Screening

Applications are reviewed by the existing Governing Body or a designated Selection Committee to shortlist candidates based on eligibility criteria and merit.

Stage 3: Interview

Shortlisted candidates undergo a personal interview (virtual or in-person) to assess leadership abilities, vision, and alignment with Sanyukt's goals.

Stage 4: Evaluation

Candidates are evaluated on predefined criteria including communication skills, strategic thinking, team management, and social commitment.

Stage 5: Final Approval

The Selection Committee recommends candidates for approval by the existing Governing Body. Selected candidates are formally appointed and notified.

President

  • Serve as the chief representative and spokesperson of the organisation.
  • Preside over all Governing Body meetings and general assemblies.
  • Provide strategic vision and ensure alignment of activities with the mission.
  • Act as the final authority on major organisational decisions.

Vice President

  • Assist the President in all executive functions.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the President in their absence.
  • Oversee special projects and inter-departmental coordination.

General Secretary

  • Manage day-to-day administrative operations of the organisation.
  • Maintain official records, minutes, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate meetings and ensure timely communication across teams.

Joint Secretary

  • Support the General Secretary in administrative tasks.
  • Handle specific operational areas as delegated.
  • Serve as a liaison between teams and the Governing Body.

Treasurer

  • Manage all financial transactions and maintain accurate accounts.
  • Prepare and present financial statements and budget reports.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and audit requirements.

Advisors (up to 4)

  • Provide expert guidance on strategic, legal, or domain-specific matters.
  • Mentor the Governing Body and contribute to policy formulation.
  • Participate in review meetings and offer constructive feedback.
  • Leadership Experience: Gain hands-on experience in leading a national-level youth organisation.
